There is a blogger named Fr. Terry who blogs as Father Jake Stops The World and who (as is his wife) is an outspoken advocate for full inclusion of all in the life of the church. His latest blog entry has a plethora of links to other resources/conversations on this matter. The ECUSA conference starts on June 11. He will also be blogging live from the event itself. Terry has been very instrumental in writing about the theology involved and also, sadly, the politics (especially the way 'outside' non-church-related conservative funds are financing a lot of the anti-gay effort in that and other denominations.)Mata Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04097615918403870130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20973277.post-1149789828552553892006-06-08T19:03:00.000+01:002006-06-08T19:03:00.000+01:00This is really top-notch blogging and a joy to rea...This is really top-notch blogging and a joy to read. I thank you for the ref to my comment. In thinking about a physical image that can carry the sense of spirituality and sex I rather think of it as two intersecting planes (kind of like forming a 3 dimentional cross -- imagine two flat squares of thin metal. Slide the middle of one edge into the middle of the other's edge and slide across all the way thru) This way there is a profound intersection of the two at every angle, but neither is defined by the other, or fully encompassed by the other. That accounts for the times when sex is not spiritually intimate and when spiritual intimacy is not sexual.

I once asked a friend of mine who is a psychologist what differences she saw between her Christian patients and patients from other religions. She said -- without a moment's hesitation -- the Christian patients are much more often there dealing with sexual shame and guilt issues.Mata Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04097615918403870130noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20973277.post-1149768061629842582006-06-08T13:01:00.000+01:002006-06-08T13:01:00.000+01:00yay for this! and thanks. it's a subject i've been...yay for this! and thanks. it's a subject i've been thinking about and reading a bit on lately. this book in particular has been excellent:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0304328502/202-4987300-1753414

(check out the 'new and used' prices!) and also the female eunuch my germaine greer and the four loves by cs lewis.

i am thinking at the minute that homosexual people might be the ones nesscessary to lead the church into renewal in the area of sexuality as a whole as if there is to be any real discussion of homosexuality in particular, there must nesscessarily be a discussion of sexuality in general.

it is my hope that this can become a discussion that all can freely enter into. at the minute there is untold damage being done by the refusal of 'the church' to acknowledge that there is something beyond 'sex' in 'sexuality'.mister tumnushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08267299982613022432noreply@blogger.com
