sunrise...

...this morning. it looked as though the sky was on fire....beautiful.

What is it Father O'Donohue says? 'Beauty does not linger, it only visits. Yet beauty's visitation affects us and invites into it's rhythm, it calls us to feel, think, and act beautifully in the world: to create and live a life that awakens the Beautiful.'

Sunrise may only have lasted but a few moments but it's memory has to be brushed away....

Amazing what mobile/cell phones can do these days.....

haha, yeah, the CTA is obnoxious right now

CTA is the Chicago Transit Authority (ie: Buses and trains). The state is refusing to fund alot of the refurbishment of the train stations and such. On top of that, the lack in state funding is causing prices to go up and stops to get cut.

basically, it's a mess and Chicago's once omnipotent public transportation is being reduced to delays, detours, and inconsistancies.

Beauty awakens our awareness. Recognizing beauty in the imperfections of our souls transforms ugliness into sweet nectar, the salve needed to chastize bitter regrets.

lovely photo......

As Anne Shirley a forever optimist, has been known to say....."Today is a new day, fresh with no mistakes."

I think she also said something about violets too.

"amethysists are made from the souls of good violets" :)

sometimes nature really does take our breath away... and then we are allowed to breathe...but we don't forget..

mobiles do let us share more easily but can't ever replace experiencing it for real..

Kyle
thanks for that - did wonder

such a tragedy when once icinic and beautiful treasures are left to ruin - care and pride seem to be dying arts...

dana
what is it with violets i wonder?
am reminded what St. John of the Cross said, that;
'I did not have to ask my heart what it wanted
because of all the desires I have ever known,
just one thing I cling to
for it was the essence of all desire:
to know beauty'

Shirley
I hope it does for me too - am jealous of those to drama queens down under - what lives they lead!
What was it Simeone Weil said, If we go down into ourselves, we find that we possess exactly what we desire.' just need to figure out how i go deeper....

Katie,
John Muir once said;
How glorious a greeting the sun gives the mountains! and 'Keep close to Nature's heart...and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.'

Though i don't think he'd have a mobile

i love these pictures. it makes me ashamed of allowing life to bog me down. how does one go about cultivating a deeper understanding/appreciation/awareness of beauty?

Paul,
These are the moments that I try to carry in my heart throughout the day. These are the moments that matter. Thank you for inspiring me to look at the big picture as I face a challenging day tomorrow.
