Farewell

Yesterday we lost a giant, and I, dear Gareth, Mark, Martin, Colin, Cary, PIp, the Greenbelt community and many more lost a friend.

...now go drink whiskey with the Almighty and frustrate the angels my friend. I came out of blog retirement for a moment just for you, my e-mail to you still in the outbox....unfinished. There is will remain...rest eternal you beautiful man, rest eternal. You are missed.

'May there be some beautiful surprise
Waiting for you inside death
Something you never knew or felt,
Which with one simple touch
Absolves you of all loneliness and loss,
As you quicken within the embrace
For which your soul was eternally made.

'May your heart be speechless
At the sight of the truth
Of all your belief had hoped,
Your heart breathless
In the light and lightness
Where each and every thing
Is at last its true self
Within that serene belonging
That dwells beside us
On the other side
Of what we see.'

(John O'Donohue, who passed away peacefully in his sleep January 3, 2008)

Condolences Paul,
Thank you for introducing me to his writing...I am still in the middle of it...
It is beautiful and compulsive, it would have been wonderful to hear him talk..

Having met him just last night ~ I am saddened to know I will never get to see him or speak to him. I am gladdened to know his words have touched me in a very profound way and because of the depth of what he has left behind as he journey's on to the next part of his amazing adventure, my life will be forever changed and changing.

Hello Paul,

I know you're no longer blogging, and I don't know if you still get these comments, but my husband just found this tribute to John O'Donoghue on David Whyte's blog, and it made me think of you, wondering if you had seen it yet, knowing you would appreciate it. So sorry for your loss, which I'm sure is still quite fresh.
