Additionally, one of my favorite Ghandi quotes was when he was asked what he thought of Western civilization. He said, "I think it would be a good idea."
he was very profound and very human (yet divine)...i like the saying where he says that the whole world would be christian if it were not for the fact that that most christians were so unlike their Christ...
i know we all are so unlike Him.....maybe i am too a doubting Thomas....does anyone live up to it all?
We were never going to live up to, isn't that the point and reason Christ came to earth etc. I was very much lamenting today our frequent disregard of love for one another, and our excuse of love for individuals that causes us to ignore the more important needs of others. The point is that we try our hardest and remain honest with ourselves and God.
I think we are the least able to know where our hearts truly lie. We are broken creatures, thinking we are doing well when we are being foolish, and fearing we have failed when we are being angels. We are broken creatures, barely able to discern our own truth. The comfort in life is that God can and does know our hearts - and He loves us no matter what he sees there, unreservedly, unflinchingly, magnanimously and eternally. Viva Grace.
